To begin, course material covers types of handguns, care and cleaning, ammunition types and usage, methods of carry, and basic marksmanship.
Students then go to the range where they fire 100 rounds of ammunition as they learn basic stance and sighting techniques.
After a short lunch break, the remaining course time covers the judicious use of lethal force, the legal aspects of owning firearms and carrying them concealed, and laws which restrict concealed carrying.
Once you have completed the course you will be given an NRA certificate that entitles you to go to your county Sheriff and make your application for your concealed handgun license.
In Lane County the cost for the permit is around $65 and is valid for four years.

The cost for this course is $100 per person plus the cost (determined by caliber) of 100 rounds of ammunition and includes a firearm rental if you do not have your own. The Baron's Den has ammunition available for purchase or you may bring your own commercially-loaded full-metal-jacket ammunition.
All courses begin PROMPTLY at 9am and conclude around 6-7pm.
